Questions to ask when looking for Resort Real Estate
Is the property complete and ready to use?
Location, location, location…Is the "Resort Property" in a "Resort" setting? Is it on a lake, golf course, or with a mountain view? Does the resort property look like it's a resort destination? Is it quiet, off the highway in a low traffic area?
Is there guest services on site to help you make the most of your vacation time?
Do you, as an Owner, have control over operating budgets, maintenance fees, etc…
Is there a fee per usage?
Is the resort "Owner Friendly"? Ease of access, lots of space, elevators to transport luggage, large closets for luggage and sports equipment, secure parking, etc? One level living with minimal interior stairs?
I think I know what I bought, but what do I own? Is it a lease/trust agreement? Is it real property registered in my name? Do the owners own the amenities? What do I have if the developer goes out of business?
Is it within walking distance of shops, services, restaurants, pool and parks?
Is your usage plan clear and easy to understand?
What's the long term plan? Is there a plan in place to deal with the long term maintenance and refurbishment requirements of your resort condo 5, 10 or even 15 years from now?
